,পিরোজপুরের মঠবাড়িয়ায় ৩৫ বছরের নারীর বাড়িতে বিয়ের দাবিতে অনশন করেছেন ৭৫ বছর বয়সি আবুল কাসেম মুন্সি। এ নিয়ে এলাকায় সৃষ্টি হয়েছে চাঞ্চল্য।

শনিবার (১৬ আগস্ট) সকাল থেকে দিনব্যাপী উপজেলার বড়মাছুয়া ইউনিয়নের ঠুটাখালী গ্রামে ওই নারীর বাড়িতে অনশন করেন ওই বৃদ্ধ।

আবুল কাসেম মুন্সি উপজেলার বেতমোর রাজপাড়া ইউনিয়নের পশ্চিম মিঠাখালী গ্রামের বাসিন্দা মৃত আজাহার আলী মুন্সির ছেলে।

আবুল কাসেম মুন্সি বলেন, আমার স্ত্রী বেশ কিছুদিন আগে মৃত্যুবরণ করার পরে বিয়ের জন্য বিভিন্ন জায়গায় মেয়ে দেখি। তারই ধারাবাহিকতায় প্রায় দুই মাস পূর্বে ওই নারীর সঙ্গে দেখা হয় এবং বিয়ের প্রস্তাব দিলে সে রাজি হয়। সেই সুবাদে ওই নারী বিভিন্ন সময়ে আমার কাছ থেকে প্রায় ৩৫-৪০ হাজার টাকা নেয়। কিন্তু গত কিছুদিন আগে থেকে হঠাৎ কোনো কারণ ছাড়াই ওই নারী আমার সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ বিচ্ছিন্ন করে দেয়। আমি তার বাড়িতে আসতে চাইলে আমাকে ভুল ঠিকানা দেয়। একপর্যায়ে আমি প্রায় ৪-৫ দিন খোঁজ করে আজ সকালে ওই নারীর বাড়িতে আসি।

তিনি আরও বলেন, হয় আমার টাকা দেবে নয়তো আমাকে বিয়ে করবে। আমার সঙ্গে ওই নারী যে প্রতারণা করেছে আমি তার উপযুক্ত বিচারের দাবি জানাই।

এলাকাবাসী জানান, ওই নারী আমাদের এলাকার। আমাদের জানা মতে ওই নারী এ রকমের বিভিন্ন পুরুষের কাছ থেকে বিয়ের প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়ে টাকা আত্মসাৎ করে। আমরা তার কঠিন শাস্তির দাবি জানাই।

বিষয়টি টের পেয়ে সকালে ওই নারী আত্মগোপন করেন। পরে তার মোবাইল নম্বরে কল দিলে বিষয়টি অস্বীকার করেন।

The old man has been on a hunger strike at the woman's house in Thutakhali village of Baramashua union of the upazila since Saturday (August 16) morning.

Abul Kashem Munshi is the son of the late Azahar Ali Munshi, a resident of Paschim Mithakhali village of Rajpara union of Betmore upazila.

Abul Kashem Munshi said, after my wife died a few days ago, I met a girl in different places for marriage. In continuation of that, I met the woman about two months ago and when I proposed marriage, she agreed. On that basis, the woman took about 35-40 thousand taka from me at different times. But for the past few days, the woman suddenly cut off contact with me without any reason. When I tried to come to her house, she gave me the wrong address. At one point, I searched for about 4-5 days and came to the woman's house this morning.

She also said, either give me my money or marry me. I demand appropriate justice for the woman who cheated me.

The locals said that the woman is from our area. According to our knowledge, the woman embezzles money from various men by promising marriage. We demand strict punishment for her.

Upon realizing the matter, the woman went into hiding in the morning. Later, when we called her mobile number, she denied the matter.
